Theft from Marine Vessels
Over the last few weeks a number of personal water craft as well as commercial vessels have been broken into and had items taken from vessels.
In some cases, large amounts of alcohol, boat parts and other valuables such as fishing equipment have been removed and these occurrences have been island wide.
Police are advising the public to lock and secure your valuables and where possible remove those items from your vessels. We are also requesting that if you see anyone acting suspiciously please make note of the vessel, get a description of the suspects and notify 2950011.”

In December 2016, The Bermuda Police Service arrested two Canadians nationals for the importation of the potent and dangerous controlled drug fentanyl from Canada to Bermuda. Members of The Organized & Economic Crime Department (OECD) of the Bermuda Police Service, working in partnership with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), commenced a joint investigation to tackle transnational crime to suppress dangerous drugs from entering Bermuda and dismantle the conspiracy network involved.
As a result of the joint investigation the RCMP have conducted an operation in the Greater Toronto Area which recently culminated in the arrest of eight (8) persons in Canada for various Conspiracy and Drug Trafficking charges. The 18 month joint investigation lead to the seizure of kilogram levels of Fentanyl, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Cannabis, Counterfeit US currency, 12 handguns, ammunition, and a grenade. The joint inter-agency collaboration demonstrates that the Bermuda Police Service and their international law enforcement partners mutual commitment in tackling Transnational Crime.

Theft from Parked Cars

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the motoring public about a recent rise in thefts from parked cars particularly in the City of Hamilton.
It appears that individuals are gaining entry into unlocked vehicles and rummaging through looking for anything of perceived value.
In some cases thieves are removing “window rain guards” and forcing the windows down then gaining entry.
Police are asking the public to do the following to lessen your chances of becoming a victim:
1. Ensure that you leave your vehicle locked and secured at all times.
2. Never leave anything of value in your car.
3. Where possible always leave your car in a well-lit area.
4. Ensure window rain guards are secured in your vehicle.
5. Report an suspicious activity to police

The Bermuda Police Service is conducting an investigation into a 37 year old Jamaican national, who unlawfully exited the Arrivals Hall whilst being examined by HM Customs staff at the LF Wade International Airport around 1:08 p.m. on Tuesday 10th July, 2018.
It is alleged that the male ran east along the Airport main road and onto the Causeway in St. Georges. The police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, to contact Detective Sergeant David Bhagwan on 717-2042, alternatively on e-mail; dbhagwan@bps.bm or on the Crime Stoppers confidential hotline 800-8477.
43 Year-old Man Arrested for Sexual Assault on a Minor

The Bermuda Police Service can confirm that a 43 year old man has been arrested in relation to an allegation of sexual assault on a minor. Because of the nature of the offence(s) and the fact that there is an active investigation underway, no further comment can be made at this time.
The Bermuda Police Service wishes to reassure everyone in the community that the Bermuda Police Service has a continuing commitment to safeguard children from harm and in particular incidents of a sexual nature.
A full investigation is underway by officers of the Vulnerable Persons Unit within the Serious Crime Department. Members of our community are reminded that if they have information about, or believe they have been a victim of abuse or sexual assault, they should report the matter to the Police. All reports of this nature will be handled in a compassionate & confidential manner.

Reported Single Vehicle Car Crash on The Glebe Road

Around 2:50am Saturday, July 14th police officers were dispatched to a reported single vehicle car crash on The Glebe Road in Pembroke.
Details remain limited at this time but it appears that the car driver involved struck a wall in a residential area.
However, initial information suggests that no one was injured.
Fatal Crash on North Shore Road Early Sunday Morning

Police and other first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish at 3:29am Sunday morning.
It appears that an 18 year old woman was traveling east on North Shore Road when she lost control of her motorcycle and crashed.
Renewed Online Fraud Advisory: Business E-mail Compromise Scam

The Bermuda Police Service continues to encourage all companies to robustly review their business processes to guard against the well-known scam referred to as the ‘Business E-mail Compromise’ (BEC), or ‘CEO fraud.’
The aim of this type of cyber-crime is to trick people into transferring money to unknown persons pretending to be legitimate businesses or specific business contacts.
Reported Two Motorcycle Collision on Crow Lane

Around 10:30am today (July 13th) police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported two motorcycle collision on Crow Lane in Pembroke.
Initial information indicated that the collision occurred near the junction with Lane Hill and that the rider of one of the motorcycles involved, believed to be a 28 year old woman, sustained facial injuries.
Visible Police Presence at Paradise Lakes for Peak Summer Months

The area in the Great Sound commonly known as Paradise Lakes is traditionally a ‘raft up’ area for members of the public in the boating community during the summer months.
After an increasing number of reports regarding anti-social behaviour and the dangerous use of watercraft in that area so far this summer boating season, the Bermuda Police Service Marine Unit will provide a highly visible police presence – particularly during the weekends – to deter any undesirable activity as well as to provide reassurance to the boating public and nearby island residents.
