The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) have confirmed that a meeting to review their management of Bermuda’s inaugural Pride Parade will take place over the coming weeks.
Commissioner of Police, Stephen Corbishley, commented:
“The Pride Parade on the 31st of August 2019 saw approximately 6,000 people take to the streets in support of LGBTQI+ communities in Bermuda.
Around 6:45am Monday, September 9th a reported two vehicle collision occurred on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with The Glebe Road.
It appears that a car was being driven along The Glebe Road and a rental scooter was being ridden along North Shore Road when the vehicles collided on North Shore Road.
The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 49 year old American visitor Mrs. Jamie Kopp and extends sincere condolences to her husband, family and friends.
It appears that around 1:45pm Thursday, September 5th Mrs. Kopp and her husband were riding separate rental scooters west along North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Cottage Hill Road – with Mrs. Kopp traveling behind her husband – when she was involved in a collision with a water truck being driven in the opposite direction.
The Bermuda Police Service is once again reminding residents to remain vigilant regarding social media scams.
One such scam currently in circulation is the mystery shopper scam, where local Facebook users are offered employment as a secret shopper and enticed by the opportunity of earning thousands of dollars simply by accepting funds into their personal bank account.
Around 1:45pm Thursday, September 5th several 911 calls were received regarding a serious collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Cottage Hill Road.
It appears that a visitor on a rental scooter collided with a heavy truck in the vicinity of the Dub City Variety store.
CPR was performed at the scene before the injured visitor was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.
The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 76 year old Cleo Watson and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Police and Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel responded to a report of a sudden death around 2:25pm Tuesday, September 3rd at a St. Augustine Road, Pembroke residence where Mr. Watson’s lifeless body was found inside an apartment.
Around 5:50pm Tuesday, September 3rd a reported three vehicle collision occurred in the North Shore Road, Barkers Hill Devonshire area.
It appears that a car was being driven in the eastbound lane of North Shore Road followed by a motorcyclist – and another car was being driven in the opposite direction when the collision occurred in the vicinity of Loyal Hill.
The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is aware of situations where persons have been arrested on outstanding court matters at L. F. Wade International Airport causing significant disruption to, or even prevention of, their travel plans.
Any persons intending to travel who may be worried about an outstanding warrant against them are advised to attend Hamilton Police Station at least 48 hours before their date of travel at a time between 8am and 9am Monday to Friday to ensure any court matters are properly finalised in a timely fashion.
Following the assault of a security officer by a group of men at East End Mini Yacht Club that occurred around 12:30am Saturday, August 24th, the Bermuda Police Service has exercised its authority under the Liquor Licence Act Section 51A to close East End Mini Yacht Club from 7pm Friday, August 30th until 7pm Saturday, August 31st.
The Commodore of the East End Mini Yacht Club, Mrs. Renall Caisey, then voluntarily agreed to keep the club closed until 10pm Saturday, August 31st.

The Commissioner stated: “Past Labour Day events at Union Square have seen crowds in the region of 2,000 or more be in attendance and we anticipate that a similar crowd will be present at this year’s event.
