Police are actively pursuing all leads in the two major incidents that took place in the early morning hours of Sunday morning. Around 2:40am on Sunday, a 19 year old Devonshire man was assaulted on Frog Lane in Devonshire with a bladed article. And around 4:05am on Sunday, 18 year old Jason Lightbourne died after sustaining gunshot wounds on Ord Road in Paget. Both investigations are being treated separately and are being coordinated out of the Serious Crime Unit. The most critical incident, which resulted in the death of 18 year old Jason Lightbourne, and the investigation into the assault of the 19 year old Devonshire man, have been given top priority within the Service. Approximately 30 officers are divided amongst the two investigations. It is still early in both investigations and Police continue to follow all lines of inquiry. It would not be prudent at this time to divulge any specific investigative strategies. We would like to thank the public for all their information so far; however, we are appealing for anyone that may have any information, no matter how insignificant, to contact the Serious Crime Unit. Any information received will be treated in the strictest of confidence. The whole community must play a role in helping to solve these crimes.
