Witness Appeal

Wed, 2006-08-16

Around 8am on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 Police attended a reported burglary at a St. George’s clothing store. On arrival officers spoke with the owner of the business who stated that sometime between 9:45pm on Tuesday, August 8 and 7:45am on Wednesday, August 9, an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into the store. The culprit(s) stole various items of clothing and accessories.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about this incident to contact Detective Constable George DeSilva at the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 297-1122. We are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have information on clothing & accessories (pants, shirts, baseball caps, bandanas etc.) being sold at a significant discount by an individual or individuals. We would also like to remind the public that anyone found in possession of stolen property may be prosecuted for receiving stolen property.

Driving Without Due Care & Attention

The Bermuda Police Service is aware that some auxiliary cycle & motorcycle riders are riding while talking on cellular phones which are either tucked into their helmet or hand held. It is also now apparent that some cyclists are riding while using their cellular phones to send text messages. We strongly urge riders of auxiliary cycles & motorcycles to refrain from these practices as they have the potential to be dangerous. Any individual observed by Police to be talking or texting on a cellular phone while riding or driving any vehicle (auxiliary cycle, motorcycle, car, truck) can be stopped and ticketed for driving without due care & attention.
