Around 1:50am on Sunday, Police attended the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) on Crow Lane in Pembroke after receiving a report of pepper spray being used. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, an 18 year old Sandy’s parish man, who stated that around 1:30am three men sprayed a substance believed to be pepper spray in his face. The men then kicked the victim and attempted to remove his gold chain from around his neck. However, they were unsuccessful and made good their escape. The Sandy’s parish man was taken to KEMH via ambulance, treated and released. The suspects are described as three young black men, one wearing a black & white polo shirt. Although a large crowd of young people were present at BUEI, no one was willing or able to provide additional information about the suspects. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
Police notice an increase in reported incidents involving pepper spray.
Breaking & Entering
At 12:30am on Sunday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Tee Street, Devonshire residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between Saturday, April 30, 2005 and 3pm on Saturday, May 28, 2005 an unknown culprit gained entry into his apartment. The culprit stole a Dell 20” flat screen LCD TV. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Weekend Activity
Over the weekend there were 3 people arrested for suspicion of impaired driving and 14 incidents of breaking and entering. There were also 13 damage only road traffic collisions and 7 road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
