Around 12 noon today, Police attended a reported serious single vehicle road traffic collision on Glebe Road in Pembroke. Details about the collision remain unclear; however it appears that a motorcycle was traveling north on Glebe Road when the rider, a 32 year old Pembroke man, lost control of the vehicle. He was taken to KEMH for treatment but succumbed to his injuries a short time later. The passenger, a 35 year old Pembroke man, was treated at the hospital for minor facial injuries. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact PC Wiltshire on 295-0011. No further information will be released until the next of kin are notified.
This marks the 7th road traffic fatality for 2005.
Injury RTC
Around 11:30am on Saturday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Middle Road and Church Road in Southampton involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling west on Middle Road when it overtook a bus, which had stopped to let a pedestrian cross the road. The pedestrian, a 34 year old Paget woman, was on the pedestrian crossing when the rider of the motorcycle attempted to avoid a collision by braking suddenly, causing the motorcycle to slide into her. She suffered minor abrasions to her legs as a result. The rider of the motorcycle, a 26 year old Devonshire man, was not injured.
