The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 34 year old Ricardo Evangelista of Warwick. Around 7am on Saturday, Police attended a reported serious single vehicle road traffic collision on Cochrane Road in Sandy's parish, near the junction with Malabar Road. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling north on Cochrane Road when Mr. Evangelista lost control, colliding with a utility pole. The 34 year old Warwick man sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to KEMH via ambulance. However, he succumbed to his injuries around 7:55am and was pronounced dead at the hospital by an on call physician. The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Robbery

Around 10:30pm on Friday, Police attended a reported robbery on Spring Hill Close in Warwick. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 51 year old Warwick man. He stated that as he and his girlfriend were walking to their Spring Hill Close apartment, an unknown man approached them from behind and punched him in the jaw, causing the Warwick man to fall to the ground. The victim's girlfriend, a 36 year old Warwick woman, tried to fend off the assailant with her handbag, but ran into the apartment after the man attempted to punch her as well. The suspect removed the victim's black leather wallet containing $150 in cash and personal items before making good his escape. The 51 year old was advised to seek medical attention for pain to his jaw and cuts to his left knee, but he declined any medical assistance. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'10" tall of slim build, wearing a black helmet, black pants and a red leather jacket with white coloured print on the right upper half of the jacket.
