Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 78 year old Allen Russell of Devonshire. Mr. Russell was found in an unresponsive state, lying on the ground at the entrance of the temporary bus terminal on Church Street in the City of Hamilton around 1:40pm Thursday. Mr. Russell was given CPR at the scene before being rushed to KEMH via ambulance. He was subsequently pronounced dead at 2:10pm by an on call physician at the hospital. The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.

Police Support Unit Statistics

The Police Unit (PSU) made a total of 72 arrests during the month of November for the following offences:

  • Outstanding Warrants - 34
  • Robbery - 1
  • Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply - 2
  • Drug Possession - 20
  • Possession of Drug Equipment - 1
  • Disqualified driving - 2
  • Offensive Words - 3
  • Lookout to be Arrested - 1
  • Impaired Driving - 2
  • Bladed Article - 2
  • Breach of the Peace - 1
  • Drunk & Incapable - 2
  • Willful Damage - 1

The PSU continued to target traffic offences as well, issuing 206 tickets in November of which 61 were parking tickets. So far this year, the PSU has issued 2,874 tickets of which 1,201 were parking tickets. In addition, during November there were:

  • 15 Drug Seizures (no arrest)

The unit attended 10 reported disturbances, 5 reports of annoying persons and 1 report of a domestic incident.
