Robbery

At 9:05pm on Monday, Police attended a reported robbery on Town Hill Road in Smith's parish. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 50 year old taxi driver from St. George's. He stated that earlier he was driving east on North Shore Road near Shelly Bay Park when a man on the opposite side of the road signaled he needed a taxi. The man told the taxi driver to take him to Town Hill Road. When the taxi stopped at the intended destination, several young men appeared from nearby bushes armed with machetes and baseball bats and approached the taxi. The suspects brandished the weapons and then took $250 in cash from the taxi driver before fleeing in the direction of Harrington Sound Road. The victim sustained a bruise to one of his forearms and attended KEMH for treatment. The main suspect (passenger in the taxi) is described as a dark skinned male, approximately 5'6" - 5'10" tall and young in appearance. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the St. George's Criminal Investigation Unit on 297-1122.

At 10:15pm on Monday, Police attended a reported robbery on Mariners Lane in Pembroke. On arrival officers spoke to the victim, a 22 year old Pembroke man, who is a delivery man for Four Star Pizza. He stated that he was dispatched to deliver a pizza to a Mariners Lane, Pembroke residence around 9:40pm. After arriving at the location and searching for the house, a man called out to him. The Pembroke man went over to the suspect, who brandished a baseball bat and demanded money. Several other young men then appeared from nearby bushes armed with machetes and baseball bats. The suspects took the victim's wallet containing $150 in cash and a Four Star Pizza pouch containing approximately $105 in cash. The suspects also took the 22 year old man's motorcycle keys and caused minor damage to the cycle when they kicked it to the ground before making good their escape. The Pembroke man was not injured and could only describe the suspects as young black men with scarves across their faces. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
