Assault

Around 8:25pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of an assault at Somersfield Academy on Middle Road in Devonshire. The principal of the school stated that around 8pm on Tuesday, the school's janitor, a 48 year old Devonshire man, was attacked by a group of young men who also had a pit bull terrier with them. Several members of the Mariners rugby team, who were practicing on the school field at the time, came to the janitor's aid. The assailants then made good their escape with the dog. The suspects are described as a group of black and white males, ranging in age from 14 - 17 years old. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact Community Beat Officer Sergeant Stephen Gunn on 299-4516 or 515-0995.

Theft

At 8:30am on Wednesday, Police attended a reported theft from an unattended vehicle parked on First Church Lane in Pembroke. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 5pm on Tuesday and 8am on Wednesday, an unknown culprit gained entry into his truck and stole a Craftsman tool set, a tool bag containing various tools and a small black bag containing $30 worth of coins. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Burglary

Around 8:30am on Wednesday, Police attended a reported burglary at Tree Tops School II at the junction of Church Road and South Road in Southampton. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 6:30pm on Tuesday and 7:40am on Wednesday, an unknown culprit gained entry into the nursery school. The culprit stole $300 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
