Firearm Incident

Around 11:40pm on Thursday, Police received a report of a shooting at the junction of South Road and Dunscombe Road in Warwick. It appears that two men on a motorcycle traveling east on South Road shot at a group of men standing on the grass verge at the junction, then made good their escape continuing eastwards. The victim, an 18 year old Warwick man, sustained a gun shot wound to his right arm. He was taken to KEMH for treatment; however, his injury is not believed to be life threatening. Police are conducting active inquiries into this incident and are appealing for any witnesses to contact Chief Inspector Tracy Adams at the Serious Crime Unit on 299-4315 or call the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1-800-623-8477.

Fatal RTC

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 17 year old Derick Paynter Jr. of St. George's. He was pronounced dead at 5:30pm on Thursday by an on call physician at KEMH. The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Around 5pm on Thursday, Police attended a fatal road traffic collision on Mullet Bay Road in St. George's near the junction with Ferry Reach involving an auxiliary cycle and a truck. It appears that the auxiliary cycle was traveling east overtaking traffic when the rider, a 17 year old from St. George's, lost control and slid under the truck, which was also traveling east. He sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to KEMH via ambulance, but subsequently died. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this fatal road traffic collision to contact PC Colin Mill on 299-4265 or the main Police number 295-0011.

Car Hanging Over Wall

Around 3:55pm on Thursday, Police attended a report of a car hanging over a wall on Khyber Pass in Warwick. On arrival officers observed the car, which apparently drove through the wall, suspended approximately 15 feet over Bulkhead Drive. Paramedics attended the scene and safely extracted the driver, a 73 year old Warwick woman, who was not injured. The vehicle was then safely moved away from the ledge with the help of a forklift.
