Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 76 year old Alfred Ash. Mr. Ash, an American citizen, was pulled from a pool at the Elbow Beach hotel in an unresponsive state around 3:30pm on Tuesday. Paramedics performed CPR on the 76 year old at the scene before transporting him to KEMH, where he was pronounced dead by an on call physician at 3:55pm. An autopsy is anticipated; however, there appear to be no suspicious circumstances. The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.

Injury RTC

Around 11:45pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on South Road in Paget, near the junction with Stowe Hill involving a motorcycle and a truck. It appears that the truck was traveling west on South Road and the motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 27 year old St. George's man, sustained a fractured right arm, a laceration to his right knee and facial abrasions. The driver of the truck, a 64 year old Warwick man, was not injured. The St. George's man was taken to KEMH for treatment of his injuries and subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Burglary

At 9:55pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Knapton Estates Road, Smith's parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 8am and 8:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home. The culprit stole a Nikon digital camera, a laptop computer, a watch and an unknown amount of coins. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
