Handbag Snatch

At 12:45pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported handbag snatch on Paynters Road in St. George's. On arrival officers spoke with the victims, a 30 year old man and a 22 year old woman, who are visitors to the island. They stated that earlier they were riding their rental cycle north on Paynters Road when two men on a motorcycle rode up alongside them. The passenger reached into the rental cycle's basket and removed a black knapsack. The suspects then made good their escape. The knapsack contained a black Nikon camera, two I-pods and personal items. The victims were not injured. The suspects are described as dark skinned males wearing black shirts, riding a burgundy coloured motorcycle. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the St. George's Criminal Investigation Unit on 297-1122.

Robbery

Around 10:15pm on Friday, Police received a report of a robbery on Brunswick Street in the City of Hamilton. The victim, a 13 year old Pembroke boy, stated that as he walked home from packing groceries at the Shopping Centre, two young men on an auxiliary cycle rode alongside him and told him to stop. When the Pembroke boy did, the suspects got off the cycle and went through his pockets, removing approximately $20 in cash. The suspects then made good their escape on the cycle. The 13 year old boy was not injured. The suspects are described as being in their mid to late teens, wearing black helmets, black jackets, blue jeans and black sneakers, riding an orange Yamaha V50. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 2 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 12 burglaries (2 in Hamilton parish, 1 in Smith's parish, 2 in Devonshire, 4 in Pembroke, 1 in Paget and 2 in Warwick). There were also 11 damage only road traffic collisions and 14 road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
