Burglary

Around 10 this morning, Police attended a reported burglary at Boyle's on Church Street in the City of Hamilton. On arrival an officer spoke with the complainant and the store manager. They stated that the culprit gained entry into the shore store sometime between 5pm on Saturday and 9am on Tuesday, removing $723 in cash and 32 pairs of shoes/sneakers. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 8 this morning, Police attended a reported burglary at the Bernard Park Softball Diamond on Marsh Folly Road in Pembroke. On arrival an officer spoke with the complainants who stated that sometime between 11pm on Sunday and 7:30am on Tuesday, an unknown culprit gained entry into a warehouse on the premises. The culprit stole 10 cases of soda, 2 cases of lemon ice tea and a case of water. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

In light of the recent burglaries of several stores in the Washington Mall, the Bermuda Police Service's Crime Prevention Unit is working with store owners/retailers to improve security at the premises.

Witness Appeal

Police investigating an alleged sexual assault are appealing for the driver of a white taxi (van type) who picked up a man and a woman outside of the South Road, Warwick Shell Service Station and dropped them off at Chaplin Bay beach around 11:45pm on Friday, June 9, 2006 to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010. The suspect, a 41 year old Hamilton parish man, is known to the victim and was arrested in connection with this matter.

Weekend Activity

Over the Queen's Birthday holiday weekend there were 10 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving (7 people failed the alco-analyser test, with the highest reading being 230mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood) and 15 burglaries (11 in Pembroke, 2 in Smith's parish, 1 in Southampton and 1 in Sandy's parish). There were also 27 damage only road traffic collisions and 19 road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
