Around 3:50am on Sunday, Police received a report of an assault near Horseshoe Bay beach in Southampton. The victims, a 21 year old Sandy's parish man, a 24 year old man and a 17 year old Southampton man were walking up the hill from the beach to South Road when an auxiliary cycle that was traveling up the hill collided with the 17 year old Southampton man, who pushed the rider of the cycle. The rider and passenger then got off the cycle, and the riders and passengers of two other auxiliary cycles following the first also stopped their cycles and got off. All six suspects proceeded to assault the three victims, punching them and hitting them with crash helmets before getting back on their cycles and making good their escape. The 21 year old Sandy's parish man was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of facial injuries and is currently in stable condition on a general ward. The other two victims sustained relatively minor injuries (facial cuts, abrasions and swelling) but declined medical attention. The suspects are described as six black men believed to be riding two orange Yamaha V50 cycles and a white Peugeot Looxor cycle. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
Weekend Activity
Over the weekend there were 6 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving (3 refused to take the alco-analyser test and 3 failed it) and 7 reported burglaries (1 in Smith's parish, 1 in Devonshire, 3 in Paget and 2 in Warwick). There were also 25 reported damage only road traffic collisions and 6 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
