Hurricane Sandy Recap - There were no reported injuries due to the passing of Hurricane Sandy. However, there was reported property damage to a building in the Mangrove Bay Road, Sandys parish area with one car extensively damaged along Mangrove Bay Road, apparently as a result of debris from the damaged building. Reportedly some boats in the Mangrove Bay area were also affected by the inclement weather.
Collision in Hamilton Parish
Around 11am on Sunday, October 28th police and first responders attended a reported collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with East Point Lane involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that both vehicles were travelling along North Shore Road when they collided. The rider, a 27 year old St. George’s man, was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. Both the motorcycle and the car received extensive damage. At last check the rider was recovering on a general ward. There were no other injuries reported. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.
Two Motorcycle Collision in Paget
Around 6:50am on Sunday, October 28th police and first responders attended a reported two motorcycle collision on Middle Road in Paget near the junction with Valley Road. It appears that both vehicles were travelling along Middle Road when they collided. The rider of one of the motorcycles involved, a 17 year old Devonshire man as well as the rider of the other motorcycle believed to be a 48 year old Pembroke man and his male pillion passenger, were all injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The teenage rider of the first motorcycle and the male pillion passenger of the second motorcycle were later released; however the rider of the second motorcycle remains in the hospital, recovering on a general ward. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.
Weekend Police Activity
Over the weekend, police officers arrested 12 people for outstanding warrants. Officers also arrested three people on suspicion of impaired driving and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
