Vehicle Fire - Around 6:20am on Monday, September 17th police and Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel attended a reported vehicle fire on Friswells Road in Devonshire. A white Suzuki car was damaged as a result; however the fire was apparently extinguished prior to the arrival of the emergency services. There were no reported injuries. Inquiries into this incident are underway and anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Detective Constable Chris Sabean on 295-0011.
Reported Burglary in Southampton
Around 8:20am on Saturday, September 15th police received a report of a burglary at a Lighthouse Lane, Southampton residence. The home is currently under renovation. It appears that sometime between 8am Sunday, September 9th and 8:15am on Saturday, September 15th an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into the unoccupied premises and removed a quantity of tools and household items. Inquiries into this incident are underway and anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
Weekend Police Activity
Over the weekend, police officers arrested 16 people for outstanding warrants. Officers also arrested six people on suspicion of impaired driving and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
