Assault

At 3 this morning, two men were walking along Reid Street in the City of Hamilton when one of the men left for a few seconds and went into Joell’s Alley. When the other man noticed that his friend was in the alley longer than expected he went to ascertain what was taking place. Upon his arrival he saw his friend on the ground surrounded by a group of black men. He intervened and was subsequently assaulted by the group of males as well. He received facial injuries as a result of being knocked to the ground and being kicked and punched in the face. He was also robbed of a chocolate coloured wallet containing $450, various cards and a cell phone. The victims could only say that it was a group of 7 to 10 black men and one black woman.

Police are appealing for anyone that might have seen this incident to contact Police at 295-0011. 

Impaired Driving

Meantime, at 10:56pm yesterday evening, Police observed a red Hyosung motorcycle traveling the wrong way on Bridge Street in St. George's. Officers then sounded their emergency equipment which caused the rider of the cycle to stop. It was at this time officers noticed that the suspect was sluggish, his eyes were glazed and he was unsteady on his feet. A further check revealed that the man did not possess a driver’s license. He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and taken to Hamilton Police Station where a breath sample was taken. He failed the test and was then detained.
