Damage Only Collision/Impaired Driving
Around 1pm on Tuesday, September 4th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle damage only collision at the junction of Front Street and Fagan’s Alley in the City of Hamilton. It appears that a taxi was traveling along Front Street when it collided with a parked cargo trailer. The driver of the taxi, a 78 year old Southampton man, was not injured and later arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. He subsequently failed the alco-analyser test and was detained.
The taxi sustained extensive front end damage. Traffic traveling out of the City of Hamilton along Front Street was temporarily diverted up Court Street as a result; however the section of Front Street where the collision occurred has since returned to normal traffic flow. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing and a court appearance for the taxi driver is anticipated in due course.
