Assault

Meantime, at 3:28pm yesterday Police received a report of an assault which resulted from a disturbance at the junction of Queen Street and Church Street in the City of Hamilton involving a passenger in a stationary vehicle and three unknown men who were walking along Queen Street. One of the pedestrians reached into the stationary vehicle and slapped a passenger on his chin and left shoulder. The driver got out of the vehicle and approached the suspects, which resulted in the three men punching the driver. The driver's wife, who was in the passenger seat, came to check on/assist her husband and was pushed to the ground. A passenger in the back seat of the car came to their assistance and was assaulted as well. One of the three suspects then brandished a knife before the three men made good their escape.

The three suspects then jumped into a taxi and were taken to Curving Avenue when one of the suspects attempted to grab the taxi driver’s chains from around his neck; the driver however grabbed the suspect and then stopped and let the three men out of his cab.

The injuries to the individuals in the car were superficial and did not require a visit to the hospital.

The suspects are described as:

  • Suspect 1: light brown skin male 5’8"-5’9" tall, average build around 160 pounds, narrow/slim features with a light moustache, close hair cut and sporting a big gold coloured chain around his neck. He was dressed in a white sleeveless under-vest and jeans.

  • Suspect 2: Dark brown skin male 5’4" tall, thin build and wearing a blue short sleeve t-shirt.

  • Suspect 3: dark brown skin male 5 feet tall; no other description was given.

All suspects were reported to be in the age group of 18-20 years old. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police on 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800-623-8477.
