Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault of a Portuguese fan who was attacked by a group of men outside of Docksiders Pub on Front Street last Wednesday evening July 5^th 2006. The circumstances are as follows: After the end of the France vs. Portugal World Cup semi final match, the victim and his brother walked outside of the pub and were attacked by a group of black men. This incident is believed to be as a result of the black men burning a Portugal flag inside the premises. 

It was reported that a number of people witnessed the series of events. 

Police are appealing  for anyone who can identify the black males involved whether they saw them inside while burning the flag or outside while attacking the victim to please contact DC Jason Ming or DC Anthony Bartley at Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 299–4557 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-623-8477.
