Firearms Incident - At 11:30pm on Tuesday police responded to a report of a firearms incident that took place in the parking lot of John Smith's Bay in Smith's Parish. It appears that two males on a motorcycle entered the parking lot area and discharged a firearm, however no one was injured.
The two men then made good their escape on a motorcycle. An investigation into this incident has commenced with officers from the Serious Crime Unit and they are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen two men on a motorcycle in the area of John Smith’s Bay acting suspiciously to please contact Sargent Jason Smith on 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477. The Bermuda Police Service cannot see it all. Counterfeit Currency Advisory
The Bermuda Police Service Financial Crime Unit is aware of counterfeit currency presently in circulation on the island, particularly Bermuda $100, $50, and $20 notes. The serial numbers are D/1 019625, D/2 509282, D/2 595819. Business owners, vendors and individuals alike are advised to be vigilant regarding these denominations. This is a public holiday where there will be a high volume of local currency in circulation; we ask that you take note of the individual or individuals passing these notes.
The public is encouraged to check for the incorporated security features of genuine currency such as paper quality and embedded watermarks.
Anyone with any information about incidents where counterfeit currency is being circulated is encouraged to contact the Financial Crime Unit on 295-0011. The public is reminded that it is a criminal offence to pass to another, possess, make or reproduce any counterfeit currency, punishable by up to five years in prison.
