A man stated that he went for a run at the National Sports Complex in Devonshire yesterday afternoon at around 1pm but before he began his calisthenics, he rested his bag on the field near the track. After he completed his run, the complainant noticed that his bag was missing. He began to search the area and found his bag, minus $500 and his cellular phone.

Meantime, a complainant states that around 11:30am on Wednesday a customer entered a Reid Street store looking for apparel. The suspect asked for several items of clothing and then proceeded to the changing room to try on the items of clothing. The suspect was in the changing room for some time before leaving the store without making a purchase. It was at that time it was noticed that the woman made good her escape with some of the clothing without paying for them.

Assault on Police

At 1:10 this morning, officers from the Vehicle Crime Unit were on mobile patrol on Parsons Road in Pembroke when they saw a man riding a cycle in a westerly direction on Parsons Road at a high rate of speed with no lights activated. Police pursued the cycle and stopped it on Court Street where officers noticed some irregularities with the vehicle. This resulted in the rider of the cycle being arrested on suspicion of stealing the cycle. As the officer was placing the suspect under arrest the rider began to violently resist arrest. The officer dispensed his Captor spray however, the suspect became more violent and swung his helmet, hitting the officer in the head. The man was eventually subdued and handcuffed. A search of the man was conducted and a crack pipe was found in his possession. He was taken to Hamilton Police Station where he was detained. The officer involved in the altercation was wearing a helmet and did not receive any serious physical injuries.
