Robbery

At 11:20pm on Monday, Police attended a reported robbery at a Hamilton parish guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the victims, who are visitors to the island. The couple stated that around 11:15pm an unknown man entered their room and demanded money. He searched their bags, removing a red leather wallet containing U.S. $200 in cash and personal items before making good his escape. The suspect was wearing a light grey hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The couple was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact the St. George's Criminal Investigation Unit on 297-1122.

Handbag Snatch

Around 9:45pm on Monday, Police attended a reported handbag snatch on Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke. On arrival officers spoke with the victims, who are visitors to the island. The two women stated that around 9:40pm they were walking west on Pitts Bay Road towards their accommodation when an unknown man rode alongside them on a motorcycle and grabbed one of their handbags. The suspect dragged the female visitor a short distance before she let go of the handbag and he made good his escape. She apparently was not injured. The black leather handbag contained a Samsung cellular phone, a Pentax digital camera and personal items. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male wearing dark clothing with a black helmet, riding a black motorcycle. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

At 9:30pm on Monday, Police attended another reported handbag snatch on South Road in Warwick, near the junction with Dunscombe Road. On arrival officers spoke with the victims, who are visitors to the island. The couple stated that they were walking east along South Road to their accommodation when an unknown man on a rental cycle rode alongside them and grabbed a beach bag off the female visitor's shoulder; she was not injured. The suspect then made good his escape riding in an easterly direction. A member of the public alerted by the shouting of the visitors gave chase but the suspect eluded him. The blue and white beach bag contained a grey Olympus camera, $10 in cash and personal items. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male of small build, wearing a grey shirt and blue checked shorts with white sneakers. He was riding a silver rental cycle. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
