Impaired Drivers - Around 2:30am on Monday June 18th, police were on mobile patrol along St. David’s Road in St. George’s when they observed an SUV that was travelling erratically. Officers stopped the vehicle and approached the driver, a 25 year old Devonshire man who appeared to be intoxicated. He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained in police custody as a result. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.

Around 1:40am on Saturday June 16th, police were on mobile patrol along South Road in Paget when they noticed a motorcycle travelling erratically. Officers caused the motorcycle to stop and approached the rider, a 41 year old Sandys man who appeared to be intoxicated. He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained in police custody as a result. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.

Reported Marine Incidents

During the inclement weather experienced on Sunday, June 17th 2012 there were four incidents reported to police of private marine vessels needing assistance, involving three boats and one wind surfer.

The Police Marine Unit including Bermuda Regiment personnel were on duty and responded, escorting at least one of the private vessels safely to shore. The other vessels were able to make it safely ashore without incident.

As a result all reported vessels, as well as their operators and occupants, were accounted for. There were no reported injuries.

Weekend Police Activity

Over the long National Heroes Day weekend, police officers arrested 16 people for outstanding warrants. Officers also arrested 11 people on suspicion of impaired driving and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
