Kawesi Wilson Apprehended - The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 36 year old Kawesi Simba Wilson. He was taken into custody on Sunday, May 6th.

Misleading Text Message

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a text message widely circulated over the weekend suggesting that gunshots had been fired somewhere in the central parishes. We would like to assure the public that no such report was made to the police, no-one was treated at the hospital for gunshot injuries and no-one has come forward to verify the text message.

Members of the public are encouraged to report what they hear and see to the police, and to confirm news stories via our official website at www.bermudapolice.bm, on our Facebook page or Twitter account, or through reputable local media outlets.

Impaired Drivers

Around 3am on Saturday May 5th, police were on mobile patrol on Front Street in the City of Hamilton when they noticed a car that was travelling in an erratic manner. Officers stopped the car and approached the driver, a 21 year old Warwick man, who appeared to be intoxicated. He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained in police custody as a result. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.

Around 12:30am on Saturday May 5th, police were on mobile patrol in the City of Hamilton when they observed a livery cycle that was travelling erratically along Burnaby Street. Officers followed the vehicle and stopped it on Front Street soon after. Officers approached the rider, a 32 year old Pembroke man, who appeared to be intoxicated. He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and outstanding warrants. He was detained in police custody as a result. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.

Weekend Police Activity

Over the weekend, police officers arrested 17 people for outstanding warrants. Officers also arrested two people on suspicion of impaired driving and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
