Impaired Drivers - Around 1:25am on Sunday April 1st, police on mobile patrol on Par-La-Ville Road in the City of Hamilton noticed a motorcycle driving erratically. Officers pursued the motorcycle and caused it to stop along Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke. The rider, a 51 year old St. George’s man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained as a result. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
Around 8pm on Friday March 30th, police on mobile patrol at the junction of King Street and Union Street in Pembroke noticed a motorcycle driving erratically. Officers stopped the motorcycle and approached the rider, a 56 year old Pembroke man, who appeared to be intoxicated. The Pembroke man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. He failed the alco-analyser test and was detained in police custody as a result. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
Around 3:15am on Sunday April 1st, police on mobile patrol along Frog Lane in Devonshire came across a taxi and a motorcycle that had apparently been involved in a minor collision at the junction of Frog Lane and Devon Lane. There were no reported injuries. As officers approached the taxi, the driver, a 62 year old Devonshire man appeared to be intoxicated. He was then arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. He failed the alco-analyser test and was detained in police custody as a result. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
Collision
Around 4:15am on Saturday March 31st, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish. It appears that a motorcycle was travelling along North Shore Road near the junction with Old Road when it fell to the ground. The rider, a 26 year old St. George’s man was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance where he was treated and later released. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Weekend Police Activity
Over the weekend, police officers arrested 6 people on suspicion of impaired driving and 12 people for outstanding warrants. Officers also conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
