Disturbance/Assault

Around 2:15am on Saturday, Police (the Police Support Unit & numerous uniform and non-uniform units) attended a reported disturbance at the Ozone Nightclub on Front Street in Pembroke. On arrival officers observed patrons fleeing the establishment and damage to the club. Initially there were no complaints made; however, at 2:50am on Saturday, Police attended KEMH after a report of an assault. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 20 year old Devonshire man, who stated that earlier he was stabbed during a disturbance at the Ozone Nightclub. His injury is not believed to be life threatening. An investigation into this incident is underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact Sergeant Dennis Astwood on 295-0011.

Injury RTC

Around 5:30pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Reid Street and King Street in Pembroke involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling west on Reid Street approaching the junction with King Street when a pedestrian was crossing the pedestrian crossing. The rider of the motorcycle, a 36 year old Southampton man, attempted to stop but could not do so in time and collided with the pedestrian, a 54 year old Pembroke man, before colliding with a row of parked motorcycles. The Southampton man sustained a minor abrasion to his wrist, while the Pembroke man was taken to KEMH for treatment of his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening. One of the parked motorcycles was damaged as a result. The 36 year old Southampton man was also issued tickets for using an unlicensed motorcycle, no driver’s license, no third party insurance and driving without due care and attention. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 8:55pm on Friday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Middle Road and Granaway Heights Road in Southampton, involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that the car was exiting Granaway Heights Road on to Middle Road traveling west and the motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction on Middle Road when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 22 year old Sandy’s parish man, sustained facial lacerations and abrasions to the body. He was taken to KEMH for treatment of his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening. The driver of the car, an 18 year old Southampton man, was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Burglary

At 6:40pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Lemon Grove Road, Hamilton parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that around 5:40pm that day, he discovered that an unknown culprit had gained entry into the lower apartment. The culprit stole a Sharp 22” flat screen TV and a digital cable box. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
