Road Safety Advisory - The Bermuda Police Service would like to remind motorcycle riders that when possible, they should secure their personal belongings in the compartment under the seat of the motorcycle or in a locked basket. In addition, all road users are advised to be aware of their surroundings when travelling throughout the Island, particularly at night. Motorists are encouraged to be vigilant for any suspicious activity or individuals while traveling on the Island’s roads and road users that encounter any suspicious activity are encouraged to contact the main police number on 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity or 911 in an emergency.

Impaired Drivers

Around 12:35am on Friday January 27th, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Front Street in the City of Hamilton. It appears that a motorcycle was travelling along Front Street when it collided with a sidewalk near the junction with Fagans Alley. On arrival, officers found the rider, a 36 year old Warwick man nearby.. He was conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance and treated for relatively minor injuries. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained in police custody. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.

Around 11:20pm on Thursday January 26th, police responded to a report of a collision in the Khyber Pass, Warwick area. It appears that a van was travelling along Khyber Heights Road when it collided with a parked car. There were no reported injuries. The driver, a 34 year old Devonshire man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of impaired driving and detained in police custody. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
