Vigilant Police Apprehend Suspected Burglar

Around 11am on Monday, January 23rd police were alerted to four men wearing black clothing acting suspiciously around homes in the Schools Drive, Devonshire area. Officers immediately responded to the scene and located the suspects, who attempted to flee on foot. After pursuing the alleged perpetrators through the neighbourhood, a 17 year old Pembroke man was apprehended nearby in possession of suspected stolen property. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing.

The Bermuda Police Service has identified a trend in burglaries, with many recent incidents occurring during the daytime, throughout the island. All residents are reminded to remain vigilant regarding burglaries by securing their valuables out of sight, recording serial numbers of all items and taking pictures of their possessions. In addition, please remember to secure your vehicles and to close and lock your windows and doors. 

We advise members of the public to make note of electronic equipment and jewelry - so that if they are stolen and later recovered, there is an accurate way of identifying them. Personal property can also be U-Marked by the Crime Prevention Unit.
