Burglary

Sun, 2006-08-06

At 2:15pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Camden North Road, Paget residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that around 1:55pm that day, she visited the premises and discovered that an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while the owners were away. The culprit stole a Palm pilot, a set of Motorola walkie talkies, a Makita hammer drill in a case, a brand new DeWalt rechargeable drill and a silver Rover car license #05830. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to advise all residents to secure their homes before leaving the premises unattended, making sure all valuables are secured in a safe place and locking all windows and doors. Also, we are encouraging residents to avoid keeping large sums of money at home. In addition, despite the summer heat, do not leave windows open for ventilation and make sure that if your home has window mounted air conditioning units, they are securely fastened to the window frame. Cup Match Activity

Over the Cup Match holiday period (Thursday, August 3 & Friday, August 4) there were 3 reported vehicles taken without the owner's consent, 4 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving, 8 reported burglaries, 2 reported disturbances, 6 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 5 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 12 reports of loud music.

On behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their support and co-operation during the Cup Match holiday period, which led to no major incidents being reported to Police and a lower number of incidents overall. Also, the willingness of the public to provide information regarding suspicious activities or persons in and around their neighbourhoods has increased and is greatly appreciated. However, we are still concerned about the speed which some of the motoring public are traveling at on our roads. With one individual being clocked at over 100 km/h during the Cup Match holiday period, we continue to urge the motoring public to slow down, observe the 35 km/h speed limit and use care, caution and courtesy on our roads at all times.
