Around 12:40am on Friday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Cut Road in St. George’s. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling east on Cut Road when the rider, a 30 year old St. George’s man, lost control and collided with a utility pole. The St. George’s man was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of a head injury and a fractured hand. He was initially admitted to the Intensive Care Unit; however, he is currently on a general ward. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Burglary

At 8:25pm on Friday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Second Avenue, Devonshire residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that sometime between 12 noon and 7pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while they were at Cup Match. The culprit stole a Samsung cellular phone and $3 worth of coins. Also, while at this location officers received a report of another burglary at an apartment on the premises. The complainant stated that while he was away from the apartment an unknown culprit gained entry and stole a black Apple I-Pod with earphones, an adapter and an Altec Lansing speaker unit. Inquiries into these incidents are underway.

At 12:20pm on Friday, Police attended a reported burglary at a First Avenue, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 10am and 11:30am that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home. The culprit stole approximately $35 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Traffic Advisory

Despite officers from the Traffic Enforcement Unit patrolling the island’s roads and monitoring traffic flow during the Cup Match holiday period, many motorists were still traveling well in excess of the 35 km/h speed limit. The highest recorded speed was over 100km/h, with several vehicles clocked at 60 km/h plus, and a number of others recorded at speeds of 70km/h, 80km/h and 90km/h. The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and drive with care, caution and courtesy on our roads at all times.
