Around 4:25am today, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on St. John’s Road in Pembroke. It appears that a car was traveling east on St. John’s Road when the driver, a 36 year old Pembroke woman, lost control and collided with a wall, causing the vehicle to overturn. The Pembroke woman sustained a bump to her forehead and facial abrasions. She was treated at KEMH for her injuries and subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The car was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 2:35am today, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Harrington Sound Road in Smith’s parish, near the junction with Sommersall Road. Details about the collision remain unclear; however, it appears that a motorcycle was traveling west on Harrington Sound Road when the rider lost control and collided with an unknown object. It appears that the individual that was riding the cycle is unknown. A 38 year old Smith’s parish man, who claimed to be the passenger on the motorcycle, sustained lacerations to his chin and left knee as well as abrasions to both arms and legs. He was taken to KEMH for treatment of his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening. The motorcycle received extensive front end damage. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact PC Mark Lewis on 295-0011.

Damage Only RTC

At 12:45am today, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on Middle Road in Smith’s parish, near the junction with Verdmont Road. It appears that a truck was traveling west on Middle Road when the driver, a 29 year old Devonshire man, lost control and collided with a utility pole. As a result, the utility pole was extensively damaged (broken in two). Police closed off the affected section of road to all traffic and notified BELCO of the situation. A short time later BELCO personnel attended the area to repair the pole. The Devonshire man was not injured; however, the truck received extensive front end damage. The 29 year old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained after failing the alco-analyser test.
