Burglary Advisory - The Bermuda Police Service has noticed a recent increase in burglaries where high value electronic equipment is being taken. We continue to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding burglaries by making sure windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes unattended, even for short periods of time. In addition we are encouraging all residents to safely store their valuables out of sight, record serial numbers of all items especially electronic equipment and to take pictures of their possessions so that if they are stolen and later recovered, there is an accurate way of identifying them. Residents are also reminded to report any suspicious vehicles, activities or individuals in their neighbourhoods to Police on 295-0011 and that receiving stolen property is an offence punishable under the law.

Reported Bus Terminal Disturbance

Around 4:15pm on Thursday, Police officers on foot patrol at the Washington Street, Pembroke bus terminal responded to a reported disturbance. There was no disturbance observed in the area at that time; however additional police units attended to assist with dispersing the individuals present. Officers remained in the vicinity and conducted stop & search checks and as a result, a 17 year old male was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug. Inquiries are ongoing.

Injury RTC

Around 3:20pm on Thursday, Police responded to a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on South Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Sommersall Road. It appears that a rental cycle was traveling along South Road when it collided with a sidewalk. The rental cycle rider, a 49 year old American visitor, was injured. She was treated by EMTs at the scene before being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for further medical care. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The rental cycle received minor damage.
