The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

During the week of Monday, November 29th – Monday, December 6th 2010 there were:

  • Reported Injury Collisions = 11
  • Reported Damage Only Collisions = 37
  • Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving = 6
  • Vehicles Reported Taken Without Their Owners’ Consent = 10
  • Number of vehicles reported stolen by parish: Devonshire = 2, Pembroke = 5, Paget = 2 and Warwick = 1.

All of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles. Of the 10 vehicles reported stolen 1 was subsequently recovered.

Injury RTC

Around 7:50am on Monday, Police and first responders attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Fort George Hill and Wellington Street in St. George’s involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that the car was traveling along Fort George Hill and the motorcycle was traveling along Wellington Street when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 52 year old Hamilton parish woman, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the car, a 54 year old St. George’s man, was not injured. Both vehicles received relatively minor damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
