Update: Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 35 year old Hugh Melwood, a Jamaican national. Mr. Melwood was found in an unresponsive state inside a Union Street, Pembroke residence around 5:40am on Saturday and subsequently pronounced dead at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing and an autopsy is anticipated in due course.
Damage Only RTC
Around 4:45am on Sunday, Police responded to a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on Harbour Road in Paget near the junction with Lovers Lane. It appears that a car was traveling along Harbour Road when the driver lost control and collided with a wall. The occupants of the vehicle apparently fled the scene on foot. The car received damage to multiple areas and the wall was also damaged. There were no reported injuries. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Around 12:45am on Saturday, Police responded to a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Middle Road. It appears that a car was traveling along North Shore Road when the driver, a 24 year old Hamilton parish man, lost control and collided with a tree. The driver was not injured; however the vehicle was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Weekend Activity
Over the weekend there were 4 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 3 reported burglaries. There were also 12 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 1 reported road traffic collision resulting in injury and 2 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
