Robbery

Around 9:05pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a robbery. The victim, a 24 year old Southampton man, stated that around 8:30pm he was walking through the Port Royal Golf Course property when two men approached him from behind and demanded money. One of the men held a knife to the Southampton man's throat while the other took his wallet. Both men then made good their escape. The victim was not injured. The black wallet contained approximately $175 in cash and personal items. The suspects are described as two black men, approximately 6' tall of slim build, wearing long white T-shirts and dark coloured pants. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Assault

Around 12 noon on Wednesday, Police on foot patrol at the Bermuda International Airport received a report of an assault at the Arrival Hall. The victim, a 73 year old taxi driver stated that he was involved in an argument and a brief physical altercation with an American visitor who allegedly slammed his taxi's door. As a result, the Hamilton parish man sustained a minor cut to his left hand. Both the victim and the suspect were invited to the Airport Police Station where after further inquiries the suspect, a 41 year old man, was arrested on suspicion of assault and detained. He was subsequently bailed. A court appearance is anticipated.
