Assault

At 7:40pm on Monday, Police attended a reported assault at the Young Men's Social Club on Angle Street in Pembroke. It appears that earlier the victim, a 50 year old Pembroke woman and the suspect, a 52 year old Pembroke woman, were involved in an argument and then a physical altercation outside the club. During the assault the victim was hit in the head with a bottle and when a female member of the public attempted to intervene, she was also struck with the bottle. The women were eventually separated by individuals at the scene and the suspect led away from the area; however, sometime later the suspect returned to the scene and assaulted the victim again, this time with a bladed article. The suspect then attempted to make good her escape but was arrested at the scene, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained. The victim sustained cuts to her neck, left thigh and left forearm. She was taken to KEMH for treatment of her injuries and is currently in stable condition on a general ward. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Burglary

Around 9:55am on Monday, Police attended a reported burglary at an Industrial Park Road, Southampton business. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 6pm on Saturday and 8am on Monday, an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises. The culprit stole a Dell desktop computer, computer speakers and a printer/fax machine. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 10:15am on Monday, Police attended another reported burglary at an Industrial Park Road, Southampton business. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 6pm on Friday and 9am on Monday, an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises. The culprit stole approximately $500 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the Remembrance Day holiday weekend there were 2 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 17 reported burglaries (5 in Southampton, 1 in Warwick, 5 in Pembroke, 5 in Devonshire and 1 in Smith's parish). There were also 22 reported damage only road traffic collisions and 4 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury. In addition, over 100 tickets were issued to vehicles parked illegally outside the Rugby Classic Final in Devonshire on Saturday.
