Man Overboard

Around 12:55pm on Monday, Police attended a report of a man overboard at Ordinance Island in St. George's. It appears that the victim, a 61 year old St. George's man, was intoxicated sitting on a nearby wall when he fell approximately 9 feet into St. George's harbour. The St. George's man attempted to get out several times before a member of the public came to his assistance and pulled him from the water. Paramedics were at the scene and rendered medical assistance to the victim before transporting him to KEMH via ambulance. At last check the 61 year old St. George's man was in the Intensive Care Unit in stable condition. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Burglary

Around 10am on Monday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Sandy's parish guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants, who are visitors to the island. The couple stated that sometime between 12:45am and 9am that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their room. The culprit stole a ladies handbag containing personal items and a men's wallet containing $230 in cash and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the New Year's holiday weekend there were 5 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 8 reported burglaries (2 in Devonshire, 2 in Southampton, 1 in Warwick, 1 in St. George's, 1 in Sandy's parish and 1 in Paget). There were also 20 reported damage only road traffic collisions and 5 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
