Assault

At 3:20 this morning, Police attended a reported assault on St. John's Road in Pembroke. On arrival officers observed a 21 year old Pembroke man sitting on a wall near the Point Mart Variety store, with his clothing saturated in blood and a deep knife wound to his left forearm. Police tried to ascertain from the victim how he sustained his injury; however, their inquiries were met with inconsistent answers. The Pembroke man was taken to KEMH where he is presently being treated for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Disturbance

Around 2:40 this morning, Police attended a reported disturbance on Sunset Pass in Pembroke. On arrival officers saw a man coming from the beach area soaking wet. The 22 year old Hamilton parish man stated that he was chased by someone with a machete; however, he managed to make good his escape on foot by jumping overboard. He was taken to Hamilton Police Station where he was searched and later released. It is unclear at this time whether this incident and the incident at St. John's Road in Pembroke are related; however, Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about these incidents to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
