At 4:30pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported robbery at Carousel Liqours on Front Street in the City of Hamilton. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 53 year old Warwick man, who works at the store. He stated that around 4pm a man came into the store and asked for some matches. The Warwick man was talking to another individual in the store at the time, and refused the man's request. The man left; however he returned a short time later, when no customers were in the store, wearing a full face helmet and went behind the counter. As the suspect attempted to grab two cartons of cigarettes a scuffle ensued with the store clerk. During the struggle the suspect managed to grab a pair of scissors that were on the counter and used them to cut the victim's arm. At that point a customer entered the store and saw the commotion, startling the suspect, who then made good his escape on foot heading west on Front Street before turning on to King Street. Police subsequently searched the area but were unable to locate the assailant. The suspect is described as wearing baggy blue jeans, blue boxer shorts, a white top and a full face helmet. The victim indicated he would make his own way to the hospital for treatment of the cut to his arm. It appears the suspect left the store empty handed. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
