The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 65 year old Vernon Martin of St. Georges. Mr. Martin was rushed to KEMH via ambulance after apparently falling from a balcony at the Sylvia Richardson Care Facility early Tuesday morning. He subsequently succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 9:05am Tuesday by an on call physician at the hospital. The investigation into this matter is ongoing and an autopsy is expected in due course. The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.
Burglary
Around 8:55pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Sunset Pass, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 8am and 5pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of jewelry. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Around 11:45am on Tuesday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Southampton guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants, who are visitors to the island. The newly-wed couple (visiting Bermuda on their honeymoon) stated that sometime overnight, an unknown culprit gained entry into their room. The culprit stole a quantity of personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
