Today, as part of Police Week 2007, the Bermuda Police Service is hosting 8 students who were chosen as winners of the ‘Commissioner for a Day essay competition held in the islands primary and middle schools from September 25th to October 26th. The winners are:
Each student wrote an essay of 100 words or less, explaining why they would like to be Commissioner of Police for a day. As a result, from 10am to 2pm today, they will be given a tour of Police Headquarters, meet with Acting Commissioner of Police Roseanda Young and senior Police officers, have lunch with the senior officers and receive awards for the excellent essays they have written. The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank all the schools that participated and in particular, the parents and schools of the students chosen. The interest shown by these students bodes well for the future of the Bermuda Police Service.
Halloween Advisory
The Bermuda Police Service will be out in strength tonight to monitor the various Halloween related activities taking place. There will be zero tolerance for any incidents involving objects being thrown and anyone caught engaged in such activity will be arrested and placed before the Courts. We are encouraging grocery stores and service stations to be on the lookout for individuals purchasing an unusually large amount of eggs or filling up unconventional containers with gas. Any suspicious activity or individuals in your neighbourhood should be reported to the main Police number, 295-0011.
