Inquiries are ongoing into the reported assault of an 18 year old Pembroke man in The Glebe Road, St. Monica’s Road Pembroke area around 5:45pm Wednesday, October 23rd. At last check, the victim was in stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
Apparently the injured teenager attended the area with other young people to participate in anti-social behaviour organised through social media. As a result police are appealing to those involved not to retaliate or escalate their anti-social behaviour.
Whilst police acknowledge that the investigation is in its early stages, initial accounts indicate that the incident involved participants engaged in a heated verbal altercation which appears to have escalated into objects being thrown by parties in the area.
Forensic evidence from the scene has been collected for examination, as well as CCTV footage from the area, to assist in progressing this investigation. In addition, a 34 year old male from Pembroke has been taken into custody by detectives investigating the matter.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in The Glebe Road, St. Monica’s Road Pembroke area around 5:45pm Wednesday to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 247-1744.
