Traffic Delays Expected: America’s Cup Celebrations

The motoring public is advised that traffic delays are likely due to the America’s Cup celebrations today.

The official America’s Cup motorcade is anticipated to leave from the L.F. Wade International Airport shortly after 2pm and travel via police escort to the Cabinet grounds arriving around 3pm.

Following a reception hosted by the Premier at the Cabinet Office, the America’s Cup Celebration Party is scheduled to start around 5:30pm on Front Street in the City of Hamilton.

As a result, motorists should be aware that traffic delays are expected along the motorcade route as well as in and around the City of Hamilton this afternoon.

In particular, the following road closure and no parking advisory should be noted:

Roads Closed to All Vehicles between 5:00pm and 8:30pm

Front Street between Queen Street and Court Street.

Burnaby Street between Front Street and Reid Street.

No Parking between 5:00pm and 8:30pm

Front Street – both sides – between Queen Street and Court Street.

Burnaby Street – both sides – between Reid Street and Front Street.

Parliament Street – both sides – between Reid Street and Front Street.

Closure of No. 1 & No. 5 Car Parks

Motorists are reminded that all cars and motorcycles should be removed from No.1 and No.5 car parks by 5:00pm Wednesday.

In addition, the Bermuda Police Service is authorized to divert traffic, restrict and authorize parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.
