Motorcycle Collision in Paget - Around 2:45am on Monday, May 20th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle collision near the junction of Middle Road and South Road in Paget. It appears that the motorcyclist was riding along Middle Road when he collided with a wall. The victim, a 37 year old Devonshire man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check the victim was in stable condition. Overturned Taxi in Devonshire
Around 12:45am on Monday, May 20th police officers attended a reported single vehicle taxi collision on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with Barkers Hill. It appears that the taxi was being driven along North Shore Road when it collided with a wall and overturned. The driver, a 57 year old Devonshire man, apparently sustained minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment. There were no other injuries reported. The taxi was extensively damaged. Police Focus on Traffic Offences
The motoring public is advised that due to reports of speeding and dangerous driving along Middle Road, Southampton in the Jews Bay, ‘Rising Sun’ vicinity, Roads Policing Unit (RPU) officers have stepped up their patrols, monitoring traffic traveling through the area. Several motorists have been recorded at speeds between 70km/h and 90km/h, with some offenders attempting to elude police. However RPU officers will continue to maintain a highly visible presence in the area to deter dangerous driving behaviors, while apprehending those riders and drivers that persist, with a view to placing offenders before the courts.
Weekend Police Activity
Over the weekend, police officers arrested five people on suspicion of impaired driving as the Selective Traffic Enforcement Programme (STEP) continues. Officers also arrested 11 people for outstanding warrants and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
