Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 76 year old U.S. national Maurice Comtois.

Around 1:30pm on Saturday, July 6th police and first responders attended a reported medical emergency at Snorkel Park in Dockyard. It appears that Mr. Comtois was snorkeling in the area when he became unresponsive.

The American visitor was given CPR at the scene and transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance where he was later pronounced dead by an on call doctor.

There were no suspicious circumstances reported; however an autopsy is anticipated in due course. The Bermuda Police Service extends condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Comtois.

Collision in Paget

Around 11:30pm on Saturday, July 6th police and first responders attended a reported collision at the junction of South Road and Point Finger Road in Paget.

It appears that a motorcycle was being ridden along South Road and a car was being driven along the same road when the vehicles collided at the junction.

The motorcyclist, a 35 year old Devonshire woman, was injured. She was apparently taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, treated and discharged. The car involved reportedly left the scene following the collision.

Weekend Police Activity

Over the weekend, police officers arrested three people on suspicion of impaired driving as the Selective Traffic Enforcement Programme (STEP) continues.

Officers also arrested 14 people for outstanding warrants and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
