Reported Serious Single Vehicle Collision - Around 8:30pm on Sunday, January 27th police and first responders attended a reported serious single vehicle collision at the junction of Southside Road, Longfield Road and Westcott Road in St. George’s.
It appears that a motorcycle was being ridden along Southside Road when a collision occurred as the rider, a 49 year old Devonshire man, attempted to negotiate a round-a-bout at the junction.
The motorcyclist was initially believed to be seriously injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. However, after being medically examined, his injuries were deemed to be less serious.
The Devonshire man was later discharged and arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The motorcycle was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.
Weekend Police Activity
Over the weekend, police officers arrested 10 people on suspicion of impaired driving. Officers also arrested 23 people for outstanding warrants and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
