Confirmed Firearm Incident in Southampton: No Reported Injuries

Around 11:50pm on Friday, February 7th police officers responded to reported gunshots in the Horseshoe Road, Southampton area.

Forensic evidence collected from the scene confirmed that a firearm was discharged in that area; however there were no reported injuries.

An active investigation into this confirmed firearm incident is ongoing and police are appealing for witnesses or anyone that may have seen suspicious persons or vehicles in the Horseshoe Road, Southampton area Friday night to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1739 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.

Injured Motorcyclist Remains in ICU

At last check the 51 year old Warwick man seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a truck around 3pm Thursday, February 6th at the junction of South Road and Marley Beach Drive in Warwick remains in critical condition at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Inquiries into this collision are ongoing and any witnesses that have not yet come forward are encouraged to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.

Weekend Police Activity

Over the weekend, police officers arrested one person on suspicion of impaired driving as the Selective Traffic Enforcement Programme (STEP) continues.

Officers also arrested 15 people for outstanding warrants and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
