Collision on Front Street

Around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024, police officers attended a multiple vehicle road traffic collision in the area of the number five car park on Front Street in the City of Hamilton.

Reports indicate the 35-year-old female driver of a motorcar entered the number five car park and drove into one of the bays as she attempted to park the vehicle.

She reportedly lost control of the car and struck a number of motorcycles parked in the cycle bay within the car park.

Her vehicle went through a hedge bordering the car park and out onto Front Street.

She struck a number of other bikes parked in the cycle parking bays on the southern side of Front Street, before also striking a truck, which was travelling west along Front Street as well as a motorcar which was parked in a parking bay on the northern side of Front Street.

There were no reported injuries.

Several of the motorcycles struck were left with extensive damage.
